Window condensation isn’t something that all homeowners deal but for those that do, it can be very frustrating. Why is condensation building up on your windows and what can you do to fix it?
Condensation is simply water droplets that build up on either the inside or outside of the windows in your home. The cause of it is usually when warm, moist air comes into contact with a colder surface(your windows).
What Can I Do To Reduce Condensation On My Window?
- Having air circulate through your home is a great way to fight condensation build up. Bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms that have high moisture levels will usually see the most condensation.
- Be sure that your basement and attic are also very well ventilated. Built up condensation can also result is something worse… mold!
- Opening your windows and blinds will help improve air flow. When the sun starts shinning down, this can also help remove any moisture build up.
Besides these easy tips, it is important that your windows are properly fitted into their frames and that they are also well insulated. Inexperienced or corner-cutting contractors can sometimes do these things.
